Oral Surgery

About this treatment
Oral surgery covers the procedures people worry about most: tooth extractions, wisdom-tooth removal and minor surgical work such as removing a small cyst or exposing an unerupted tooth. The difference from a standard visit is that we plan the surgery in advance, sometimes using a 3D scan to see exactly where the roots sit. Everything is done with the area completely numb, and you can ask questions at any point, including a signal to pause if you need a moment. Removing a problem tooth protects the teeth around it: an impacted wisdom tooth can push neighbouring teeth or cause repeated infections, and taking it out early avoids worse trouble. Most people are surprised by how straightforward it feels.
What to expect
A consultation and X-ray or 3D scan so we can plan the safest approach.
Numbing of the area, with sedation options available if you feel anxious.
The procedure itself, usually twenty to sixty minutes depending on complexity.
Written aftercare instructions, a prescription if needed, and a same-day phone call to check on you.
Good to know
Most procedures take between twenty and sixty minutes, and you are awake throughout, though you can choose sedation for longer or more involved surgery. The local anaesthetic means you feel pressure but not pain; afterwards, mild swelling for two to three days is normal and responds well to ice packs and simple pain relief. You will leave with clear written instructions covering eating, brushing and when to call us. Most patients are back to normal activities within two to three days, with full healing around the week mark.
